Sustainable Community
Tri Hita Karana is derived from the Balinese spiritualism and beliefs, which promotes harmony among fellow human beings through communal cooperation and promoting compassion; harmony towards God, manifested in numerous rituals and offerings to appease deities; and harmony with their environment, which strives to conserve the nature and promote the sustainability and balance of the environment.

Rice for Plastics
Started in 2020, the Plastic for Rice Initiative supports local farmers, combats Bali’s beach pollution and nourishes the local community. It provides rice to local villagers through a barter system, where a kilogram of rice is given in exchange for every kilogram of plastic trash that is collected, to date more than 30,000 kilograms of rice have been provided. The initiative is continually expanding and is now operational in 12 villages.

Other Initiatives
The importance of education is highlighted through the establishment of free English classes held at a local elementary school, as well as within the compounds of Soori Bali.
“Little Dancers of Kelating,” a fully-funded indigenous dance school preserves and cultivates a centuries old art. Students learn both traditional dance and music and perform weekly. Religious traditions of the local context are respected at Soori Bali, an SCDA designed culturally and environmentally sustainable resort, thus preserving and co-existing with the local heritage.
