Sustainable Community
“…an attitude towards community building, while in harmony with nature.”

Soori Rice Initiative
The Rice for Plastics Initiative is an opportunity to combat beach pollution while providing nourishment for the local community. Villagers collect plastic trash from their surrounding area and exchange it through a barter system, where every kilogram of trash collected can be traded in for a kilogram of rice. To further support the local economy, the rice provided for barter has been purchased from local farmers, thus ensuring that the community is supported in multiple ways.
The Rice for Plastics Initiative takes place monthly and is conducted in collaboration with the Chiefs of Villages in Kelating, Bali, further cementing our investment and involvement in the local community.
